Rural Community Immigration Pilot
About the pilot
The Rural Community Immigration Pilot provides a pathway to permanent residence for skilled workers who want to live and work in rural and remote Canadian communities. Officially launched by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada on January 30, 2025, the program helps address labour shortages by connecting approved employers with qualified international talent when positions cannot be filled locally. Fourteen participating communities across Canada were selected based on their ability to support newcomers and benefit from economic growth through immigration. The pilot is currently active, and IRCC has not yet announced an official end date.
Who it's for
The pilot is designed for skilled workers with a genuine job offer from an employer in one of the participating rural communities, where local recruitment has not been able to fill the position. Candidates must meet the work experience, education, language, and settlement funds requirements set by the community they're applying to, and show a genuine intention to live in that community.
